Project Overview: We have an immediate requirement for a new project and are looking for a Data Engineer to join our team as soon as possible. - Initial Commitment: 20 hours per week for a 2-month period. - Potential Extension: Likely to extend to 40 hours per week on an ongoing basis. - Engagement Type: Open to contract or contract-to-hire arrangements. Key Responsibilities: -Data Infrastructure and Modeling: Design and implement end-to-end data platforms, assist backend teams with modeling their transactional data, and conduct physical data modeling for modern data warehouses. - Data Pipelines: Build comprehensive ETL/ELT pipelines to populate the Data Warehouse and support downstream analytical data users. Required Qualifications: Educational Background: BS degree in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience. Professional Experience: 5+ years as a Data Engineer with proficiency in at least one programming language (Python, Scala, Go) and strong SQL skills. 5+ years in developing data platform infrastructure and designing/implementing ETL/ELT processes, including best practices in testing, logging, and monitoring. Extensive experience with CI/CD practices and infrastructure as code (Terraform) for developing data platforms on cloud ecosystems. Hands-on experience with distributed big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Presto, Hive) and data warehouse technologies (e.g., Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift). Proficiency in implementing microservice architectures, event-based processing, and streaming pipelines, with expertise in Kafka and Spark Streaming. Advanced data modeling knowledge, including NoSQL, transactional databases, and distributed analytical data environments, along with experience in designing and implementing Data Lakes. Familiarity with agile software development and continuous integration/deployment principles.
